About Me

Hi, Soumya here. I’m so glad you found your way here today.

Life is tough sometimes. I believe that with intention and support, we can heal from difficult experiences and forge our better selves.

My counselling approach is rooted in compassion and respect— beginning with listening well to my clients, and fostering an atmosphere of safety and non-judgment so that each person gets to tell their story. Then, I collaborate with clients to formulate therapeutic goals so we know what we’re working towards. I support clients in working through their present challenges and making intentional change in their lives, while remaining curious about how they may be influenced by past experiences and family systems.

I have a Masters’ in Counselling from the Singapore University of Social Sciences, with a major in Couples’ and Family Therapy, and am a Provisional Clinical Member with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC). I use counselling interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Schema Therapy, depending on the unique needs and challenges of each individual.

Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in education. I have lived and worked in Singapore for most of my life, but with stints in India and the UK. I conduct sessions in English. I also speak Malayalam and Hindi, albeit with less fluency.

My first and forever passion is for literature and the arts (so don’t be surprised if I recommend you a book or two during our sessions together). I also enjoy baking, walking, and running in my free time.

Be well, and speak soon.
